Let the adventures begin....!

I arrive after a 2 1/2 hour delay to find Noelle and Kathleen anxiously waiting in front of our--no joke--haunted looking No. 8 hostel. Note to self, a hostel in London, one of the most expensive cities, is too good to be true if it's only $20 a night. Needless to say, we got out of there quick after a local was adamentely opposed to our presence as three young women. We quickly found another hostel...the Wishing Well...um, it's quaint. It's a bed and breakfast AKA we have a bed for you and we can suggest a nice cafe to eat at down the street. I believe the words were "our kitchen isn't up and running at the moment." Also, we patiently waited as the manager went to cast a key fo us...hmmmmmm okay. No explanation available, we just waited.

So it stormed really badly today. A good excuse to take an afternoon nap. Tonight was spent hanging out near London Tower/ London Bridge and people watching after a good dinner at an authentic English Horniman Pub. Sounds ghetto I know but I honestly think the staff was torn about whether or not we should be allowed to stay. Perhaps a dress code? They told us the tables were "reserved". We had to get our food at the bar. Fish and chips are freakin good.

Lessons learned:
1. the tube transportation is NOT like America's. It will not hold its doors for last minute customers...visualize Noelle's panic stricken face as she zoomed off leaving Kristen ande Kathleen on the platform.
2. We actually want to KEEP the pounds we have, not lose them. Tomorrow's plan: fruit for bfast, granola bar for lunch, and maybe we'll make some friends who want to treat us to dinner.
3. Our level of moral conviction for honesty may have dropped a notch, due to the desperate attempt to save those aforementioned pounds (they didn't ask for a ticket on the train home, so we didn't buy it... that's not so bad, right?)

Tomorrow's plan: a full day of seeing the city... and every free option available! London, here we come!

Okay, girls, you're learning valuable lessons from the very beginning! Let's keep those "safety antennas" primed and ready at all times.
