Before we continue with the past few days of activity, we've been meaning to write a little bit about our experience with the brothers in Paris. Our time with them was truly amazing and we're still reflecting on the ways that Guilluame served us while we were staying in his home.
When we arrived in Paris, our first experience with couch surfing, we were sure it was just a place to stay, and our plan was to stay out of their way as much as possible. But upon our arrival, they were ready to serve us in every way. As we mentioned before, they cooked dinner for us two nights in a row... but it was so much more than that. Guilluame was so willing to set aside anything of his own in order for us to have a good time. We were so amazed with the way that he treated us. A common phrase we heard was "as you wish..." which may sound funny, but really, anything we wanted to do he set aside any of his personal plans. It was the simple way that Guilluame treated us. His humility was very unique. Not once did he offer any advice with only one right answer, but instead let us choose what we wanted... "as you wish."
Our time in Paris was of course wonderful because it's Paris. But the experience we had, a very personal one and so much more real than just a visit to the city. We became friends and had a "family" for a few days while we were there.
As we were leaving, already overwhelmed by the generousity and amazing hospitality that Guilluame had shown, we didn't even have a way to thank them for all that they had done. We got to the train station (which he came with us to make sure that everything went smoothly) and as we said our goodbyes, he opens his bag with food for the ride, and special chocolate for all of us. It was so overwhelming and truly beautiful. Here we are, having spent three nights in their home, and he wanted to give us something more. He kept giving and giving, and wouldn't accept anything in return.
It was a true gift to us. We have still been talking about the amazing act of grace he showed us while we were there. We are inspired by his willingness to show grace to us. As we have reflected on Guilluame, the truly overwhelming thought that comes to mind is how much more God shows us grace... he continues to give and give, with nothing worthy from us in return, and lavish us with love as His children.
There is something wonderful about the way that we have seen so many different cultures and interactions across the people on this trip. God has created such diverse people across the world, but they are all beautiful glimpses of Him.

I would say that Guilluame was one of those guardian angles that I prayed God would provide during your trip. Likely you'll experience more.
